The main attracting in Santa Fe is the historic downtown with its adobe style buildings. When you wonder its narrow streets it really feels like you are stepping back in time to the old southwest. This is true not only because of unique architecture, but also because of the atmosphere the numerous craftsmen and street vendors selling locally made goods help to create.
Crafts are not the only thing you will find in this small downtown, as there are over 300 art galleries. Although southwest theme is the most dominate, there area also a good number of galleries and museums offering modern abstract art as well. Jewelry, fashion boutiques, and rug stores are prevalent as well. Santa Fe also offers intrigue in the area of food options as well. The Blue Corn Cafe is a fine example of “New Mexican cuisine” at an affordable price.
For those who like the outdoors, Santa Fe is located in the middle of an mountain adventure paradise. There are a number of great places go to hiking, backpacking, kayaking, or skiing within a short drive of the city.
If you are looking of a taste of the American southwest, look no farther than Santa Fe.
